Situated at the geographic centre of Toronto, the former Downsview airfield is about to undergo a once-in-a-generation transformation. In preparation for the anticipated closure of the airfield’s operations, Downsview’s collective owners, the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (“PSPIB”), and Parc Downsview Park Inc. (“PDP”), are undertaking an integrated master planning process shape the vision for the redevelopment of this highly strategic 700-acre site, one of the largest redevelopment opportunities in the city region served by major transit infrastructure.  Ken Greenberg has been asked to serve on an international Downsview Advisory Committee made up of senior advisors from a number of fields to help achieve exemplary cutting edge design and development of a complete and integrated new urban district exemplifying the best of emerging sustainable practices. The role of the Downsview Advisory Committee is to provide guidance to the Board of Directors and Management team of Downsview Metro Development Inc. and the Downsview team at PSP Investments on strategic issues surrounding the overall master planning, urban design, and development for the the Downsview property including: built form, public realm, infrastructure, land use, government relations, public relations, renewable energy, technology, affordable housing, pre-fab, integrated design with surrounding environment, impact of new technologies on infrastructure and architecture.
